Nanny Information

The Christian Nanny Application Process

Christian Nanny Applications are 100% free. You do not pay any fees to apply for jobs with Christian Nanny families. We do not charge contract fees or ask you to pay us a portion of your salary like most agencies do.

Please expect a phone call from ChristiaNanny.com after submitting your application. Our screening, which begins with verifying your phone number, serves a few important purposes that help make your nanny job search a lot easier and our families' nanny search much safer. First, if a nanny applicant doesn't answer the phone or return our calls, we can't verify she actually exists, even if the application 'looks' great. Our second concern is that all Christian Nanny applicants be sincere. Our families seek nannies to care for their children in a Christ-like manner in their stead while they work. Screening helps us eliminate fraudulent applicants that would cause distress for family users, either by phone or email, and to eliminate applicants coming from overseas pretending to be in the USA in order to gain family contact information for possible illegitimate reasons. For these reasons, access to family contact information is restricted to validated Christian Nanny applicants only, just as nanny contact information is restricted to registered and identified family users only.

Please make sure that you complete the entire application, both the General Application and the References-Profile form so that we can get you validated quickly. You must provide childcare references to access family contact information. The References-Profile form gives families a better idea of your previous work history, personality and interests, important items for a compatible match. Families will not call your references without speaking to you first.

You'll find your job search is easy and effective here because you don't have to compete with numerous unqualified, fraudulent, or overseas applicants seeking plane fare and a visa to the United States who have worn families out or scared them away ahead of you. You'll also find that jobs here are very high quality because of our screening efforts. Lots of our families interview with only 2-5 nannies prior to hiring, so do not delay in calling a family if their job seems to be a good match for you. Families may also call you, so be sure you are prepared to get calls as well. You'll find our families are truly awesome, real Christian families, and very, very nice. As a Christian Nanny, you already have a lot in common with them. All family identities are verified initially via their credit card order, and we do speak with them as well. 95% of the families here sign up over the phone, they need to be reassured that we are for real, they need to know if we can actually help them, they like to screen us! We need Christian Nannies of all skill levels, from first time nannies (babysitting experience only required!) to highly qualified career nannies, doulas and teachers.

Identify Yourself

Families can be pretty nervous when hiring a nanny. If you are applying for Christian Nanny Employment, be prepared to possibly have to provide the following types of documents for identification, experience verification, and employment eligibility purposes with your new family employer.

1. A good recent photo of yourself if a personal interview isn't possible.
2. A copy of any additional certificates you may have earned such as certification for CPR, First Aid, Life Saving courses, CNA, etc.
3. A copy of your birth certificate or SS# for identification and tax purposes.
4. A copy of your Driver's license for identification.
5. At least one personal reference. (Your Pastor works well here)
6. At least two previous employer references if you have them.
7. Two previous childcare references from people whose children you have cared for.
8. Recent medical records, clean bill of health. (a simple letter of good health from your physician is acceptable).
9. Criminal record clearance may be requested by your new employer. We do run background checks.

A Prospective Employer can also provide you with the following prior to any in-person meetings:

1. Pictures of their family if possible.
2. Travel fare if you need to travel for an in person meeting.

Getting a good nanny job will depend a lot on your approach to the situation, especially if this will be your first assignment. A family will want you to show maturity, manners, the ability to act responsibly in a number of situations, and an outgoing positive attitude. You should be physically fit and enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle. The ability to cook a healthy meal is a big plus, and household management and organizational skills are highly valued. People are very particular about who they will leave their children with, and for good reason. Get as many personal and previous employer references as you can. No matter where you go to apply for a good job of any kind, previous employer references will be required, our application process is no different in that respect. Babysitting references are acceptable for first-time nannies. Don't be too shy about yourself or you may miss a great opportunity.

Working with children on a daily basis can be extremely stressful and tiring. Children are full of energy at the most unbelievable times. Make sure you are truly prepared with at least a good amount of prior babysitting before you apply for a real nanny position.

HELP!

I can't log on!
You can request your password at the log in screen. Application account and job search passwords are not the same. Check your email for the latest version if you've re-sent yourself several copies of either. Login is case sensitive. That means that capital letters in your password or username must be entered as CAPS at log in, and lower case as lower case. Job search passwords are not good forever. They only last a few months and then you have to update your application to get a new one. Only current applicants actively seeking jobs can access the jobs database.

I don't want to get job announcements anymore please delete my application!
You are responsible for your account. Delete or modification must be done by the account owner (nanny) herself. Take a minute to Log in, and click 'Delete' to remove an application from the system. You can also notify us if you hire to stop job announcement services from clogging your email box. Deleting your application will stop job offers. Old applications are eventually deleted from the system automatically. If you want your application archived early but not deleted, please either call in at 865-436-7800 or email us.

No one is calling me!
The best jobs can be very competitive. Be sure your application is up to date, that the contact information on it is correct, and that you have references and a profile in the database. Use the reference form to impress families, don't be afraid of it. Shying away from the reference/profile form indicates you may not be entirely serious about being a nanny or may be exaggerating your experience or abilities. Families using these services are quite serious about hiring someone just right. So generally, they will always contact the nannies with complete references/profiles first. Waiting 3 days for references from an applicant that is reluctant to complete the entire application doesn't make sense when there are so many available nannies that have completed it.

I don't want to put my previous employer's phone number online!
The database is secure. It is not accessible to the general public, and most families using services don't call references unless they are impressed by an applicant already, they will have spoken to you first. You won't get a good nanny job anywhere without references. Failure to provide references generally indicates a problem with your employment history. If you really, really cannot submit references online, you may fax us your personal resume at 865-436-8700.

My application was deleted or archived!
Most likely your application contained invalid phone numbers or email addresses, you may be an non-US citizen applicant who did not indicate valid US citizenship, legal residency or appropriate visa status, you did not respond to our requests for validation of your application within a timely manner (3-7 days), or lack of or very questionable references. If you think your application was deleted due to a mistake in your contact information you can reapply, please be sure your contact information is correct. All applications are archived after 120 days or so unless you update before then. To remain in the current database, just unarchive your application from the Nanny Application and Services page. If you just applied within the past 7 days and received an archive notice or your application was deleted, it may be because you did not respond to our attempts to reach you at the phone number(s) listed on your application or you application was not qualified for validation. Items that can cause your application to be deleted are: excessive asking salary for your age and experience indicating an insincere application or lack of any real work experience, we were repeatedly unable to reach you by phone, or failure to supply verifiable references, indicating the possibility of a fraudulent application, or your application was simply sloppy. Our phone number is 865-436-7800 if you need to call us if you think we deleted you by mistake.
